Soda City Suds Week was created to help celebrate Columbia’s burgeoning craft beer scene and the businesses that work hard to promote the city and state’s beer culture.
With Columbia home to four craft breweries (with more coming) and a growing number of bars, shops and other craft beer-centric businesses in the area, we want to highlight what makes these brands and businesses great and show off what they’re doing to help grow the craft beer scene in the Capital City.
Join us March 18-26, 2017 for the third Soda City Suds Week, and raise a toast to craft beer in Columbia!
The idea for Soda City Suds Week came about like a lot of great ideas do: Over a few pints at a local bar. With other cities throughout South Carolina hosting craft beer weeks of their own, we figured it was about time for Columbia’s beer scene to show what it’s got.
Founded by Midlands Craft Beer Supporters – a local registered non-profit organization – Soda City Suds Week is an independently run week of events aimed at promoting the range of businesses and breweries in Columbia. These aren’t just pint nights or kick the keg evenings; we encourage participating business to be creative and have fun with their events and show what makes them unique.
We love the local craft beer scene, and we want to share that love and excitement with as many people as we can.
We’re excited to bring you Columbia’s third independent weeklong celebration of craft beer from from March 18-26, 2017.
We’ve got a growing list of great events lined up for the week, including festivals, special releases, food and beer pairings, and chances to meet brewers from Columbia and South Carolina at large. Every day of SCSW will be something new to check out at a different location. We’ll be announcing events as the week gets closer, so be sure to check the Events section regularly for updates.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates before and during the week, and give us your feedback through our social media or through the contact form at the bottom of this page.
Stay thirsty, Columbia. Cheers!
One of the most-asked questions we got following the inaugural SCSW was from people wondering how they could be involved in the week and help out. If you’re looking to lend a hand this year, we’re looking for volunteers on three different teams:
– PR Street Team, which will help out putting up posters around town and handing out promotional items for the week.
– Event Team, which will help out at events by setting up, working the registration table, pouring beer, cleaning up after the event and more.
– Suds Week Ambassadors, who are willing to attend and help run events with a representative of Midlands Craft Beer Supporters.
If you’re interested in being a part of one or all of these teams, or if you’d just like us to send you some more information, sign up through this form. We’ll contact you about how you can help. Thanks for your interest in helping make SCSW 2017 possible!
With the third annual Soda City Suds Week shaping up to be even bigger than the first, we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us spread the word and run all of the great events coming up!
Please note: There is a $50 fee for all approved and registered events. (Certain sponsorships do include one waived event registration fee.) There is no charge for submitting an event for consideration. The board of Midlands Craft Beer Supporters will approve events on a first-come, first-served basis and you will be contacted following approval. If you are a business or organization interested in hosting an event during Soda City Suds Week, please fill out this form.
